HICKSVILLE -- Dorothy F. Miller, 95, died Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at Hickory Creek of Hicksville.

She was born on February 12, 1917, in Bethesda, Ohio, the daughter of the late Forrest and Icele (Grooms) Jones. She was a 1937 graduate of Hicksville High School and a 1960 graduate of Fort Wayne Beauty College. In July of 1941, she was united in marriage with Carl Miller. Dorothy was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Hicksville. She volunteered at Community Memorial Hospital for many years and was a member of the Ladies Golf League at Hickory Hills in the 1960s.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Allan (Susan) Miller of Quincy, Michigan; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; a daughter, Dianne; two brothers, Charles and James; and a sister, Madeline.

Funeral services for Dorothy will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Hicksville, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor James Paulson will officiate. Visitation will also be today from 6-8 p.m. at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville. Burial will be at Lost Creek Cemetery.

  • Alan and Susan. I am so sorry to hear about your mother. It is hard to believe she was 95. But then it's hard to believe we are in our 70's. Mom has been gone since 1991. They are gone now. I will always remember Mom and your Mother sitting in the front seat laughing like loons while us kids were in the back fighting all of the way. Again I am sorry for your loss. Linda Cooper
