Joyce Lucielle Sanders, 78, of Defiance, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2012, at the Toledo Hospital.

She was born on February 24, 1934, to Bernard and Gay (Courtney) Mohr in Defiance, Ohio. She married Robert Lee Sanders on March 12, 1975, at home, and he survives.

Also surviving are her sons, Mike (Betty) Davis of Edgerton, Ohio, Terry (Kathy) Davis of Defiance, Rick (Connie) Davis of Defiance and Chris Davis of Bryan, Ohio; stepchildren, Bobby (Shirley) Sanders of Defiance, Laura (Craig) Richards of Defiance and Penny Brubaker of Chicago, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Joan (Paul) Ullinskey of Defiance and Pat Pack of Paulding, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard Mohr, Gay Mohr-Nixon; first husband, Ned D. Davis; stepfather, Ray Nixon; brothers, Frank, Bernard and Dick Mohr; sister, Videy Relue; son, Joseph Patrick Davis; and two great-grandchildren.

Joyce attended St. Mary's Catholic Church. She worked at Spangler's Candy Company in Bryan for 12 years, at the VFW for four to five years, and bartended at the Defiance Eagles for 23 years.

Visitation will be held today, October 2, 2012, from 2-8 p.m. at Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Defiance. Burial will take place in Riverview Memory Gardens.
