PAULDING -- Luis Salas Sr., 105, died Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at the Laurels of Defiance, Defiance, Ohio.
He was born August 19, 1907, in Puertode Lacanela, Mexico, the son of Rosemdo and Guca (Garzia) Salas. On August 4, 1934, he married Guadalupe Gonzales, who preceded him in death on September 27, 1985. He was employed by the former Noneman Lumber/Hartzog Lumber of Paulding and a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Parish, Paulding.
He is survived by three daughters, Esperansa (Charlie) Gonzalez and Angelica Rodriguez, both of Fort Wayne, and Sulema "Sue" Hernandez of Paulding; sons, Conrado Salas of Sarasota, Fla., Humero Salas of Fort Wayne, and Jesses Salas, Antwerp; a sister in Monterey, Mexico; many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; children, Amelia, Romalia, Roberto, Olivia, Richardo and Luis Jr.; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three brothers and a sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 29, at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish, Paulding. Burial will follow in Cooper Cemetery, Paulding Township. There will be visitation from 9-10 a.m. prior to services at the church on Saturday.
