MANSFIELD -- George William Ullinskey, Sr., 81, of Mansfield, died unexpectedly Monday, September 17, 2012, at MedCentral Mansfield.
Born June 4, 1931, in Medina, Ohio, he was the son of John and Helen (Zima) Ullinskey. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he was a combat air photographer in the Korean War. George retired from Sprint Telephone after 39 years of service as a fiberoptics project engineer, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars 3494, and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. A very hard worker, George also enjoyed working out of the office on his farm, flying his Cessna 210 airplane, woodworking, and loved traveling. George never met a person that he couldn't have a conversation with, especially at his favorite coffee shop.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Gaylene (Owings) Ullinskey; a son, George W. Ullinskey, Jr. of Pickerington, Ohio; a brother, John Ullinskey of Weschester, Illinois; and a sister, Tillie Dutkofski of Surprise, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and seven sisters.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2012, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2012, at the funeral home, conducted by Pastor Deering Dyer of Crossroad Community Church. Burial will follow in Windsor Park Cemetery, where full military honors will be conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
