ARCHBOLD -- It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Betty Lou Clark, of Archbold. She passed away on September 16, 2012, at Fairlawn Haven, after spending her final days surrounded by her family.
Betty was born October 15, 1928, in Defiance County, Ohio, to Russell and Ruth Porter. Betty worked for the Strydel Corporation for three years and Sauder's for 18 years.
Betty was a proud member of the Archbold United Methodist Church. She greatly enjoyed her weekly, Thursday morning Bible study, and never missed working a church thrift sale. Betty also loved going to her Fulton County senior luncheons at Archbold Scout Cabin and playing bingo with her friend, though she told her children she did not win very often. But most of all, Betty loved spending time with her family.
Betty married George Clark of South Hampton, Massachusetts, on July, 7 1949. They spent 45 years together and raised a family of seven children.
Betty is survived by her children, Robert (Anna) Clark of Newaygo, Michigan, Dale (Karen) Clark of McComb, Carol (Jerry) Israel of Toledo, Dave (Diane) Clark of Toledo, Douglas (Betsy) Clark of Archbold, and Lynette (Jerry) Beach of Cincinnati. Betty's children blessed her with 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Betty is also survived by Virginia Kern, Mary Osborn, Donna Smith, Leon Porter, Grace Baxter, and Ron Porter.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Ruth Porter; her husband, George; her daughter, Karen Clark Evans; and her brothers, Bob and Mel Porter; and her sister, Erma Klinshirn
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at the Archbold United Methodist Church, with Pastor David David and Pastor Paul Reichert, officiating. Interment will follow in the Archbold Cemetery. Friends may call at the Grisier Funeral Home in Archbold on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m.
The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com.
