Roland 'Dick' Cameron

FORT WAYNE -- Roland R. "Dick" Cameron, 88, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.

Born in Defiance, Ohio, Dick was a project engineer with Phelps Dodge, retiring in 1985. He was a World War II Navy veteran and past exalted ruler of Elks Lodge in Defiance, Ohio. Dick enjoyed working in the yard, stained glass work and loved his family.

Surviving are his wife, Maxine Schafer Cameron; stepdaughters, Suzy Schafer and Carol (Kevin) Laughlin, all of Fort Wayne, and Jan Schafer (Tom Steller) of Cincinnati, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by first wife, Elizabeth "Libby" Cameron; and stepson, Steven Schafer.

Mass of Christian Resurrection is Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10700 Aboite Center Road, Fort Wayne, with Father Larry Kramer officiating, with calling one hour prior to Mass. Calling also 6-8 p.m. Sunday at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, with a vigil Service at 7 p.m.
