Evilo Donze Smith


BRYAN -- Evilo V. (Donze) Smith, 90, of Bryan, passed away at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday evening, September 12, 2012, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Bryan, Ohio, with her loving family at her side.

Evilo was born January 1, 1922, in Bryan, Ohio, the daughter of the late Oliver Carl and Ivah (Ellis) Wise. She was a 1939 graduate of Bryan High School. She married Charles D. Donze on October 21, 1950, and he preceded her in death on May 18, 1976. She then married Francis C. "Smitty" Smith on August 24, 1978, and he preceded her in death on April 23, 2008. Evilo was an assembler and inspector for the ARO Corp. She was also a co-owner of Smith's Trailer Park in West Unity. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Ham Radio Operators Club in Florida, Bryan Eagles Aerie 2233, Bryan Moose Lodge 1064 and the Bryan American Legion Post 284 Ladies Auxiliary. Evilo enjoyed reading, crocheting, working in her flower garden, listening to music, attending her grandchildren's concerts. She had a wonderful sense of humor and dearly loved her family.

Surviving are her three sons, Aric (Nancy) Donze of Bryan, Ohio, Daniel (Becky) Schwam of Galion, Ohio, and Gary L. (Jeongki) Schwamm of Tokyo, Japan; six grandchildren, Riqui Schwamm of Salinas, California, Arica Donze of Columbus, Adrienne Donze of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Sara Easter of North Fairfield, Ohio, Rachel Hall of Galion, Ohio, and Katy Messmer of Marion, Ohio; five great-grandchildren, Megan Beebe, Kezia Easter, Ryan Easter, Anna Hall and Leah Hall; two brothers, Richard (Lucy) Wise of Defiance and James (Carol) Wise of Alabama; and two sisters, Willadean "Billie" Harvey of Phoenix, Arizona, and Sharon Stotz of Edgerton, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Charles Donze and Francis Smith; and her sister, Maxine Imm.

Funeral services for Evilo V. (Donze) Smith will be held Monday, September 17, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 610 Portland Street, Bryan, Ohio, with Father Fred Duschl officiating. Interment will follow in Ney Cemetery, Ney, Ohio. Visitation for Evilo will be held Sunday, September 16, 2012, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home-Greenisen Chapel, 225 East High Street, Bryan, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening.
