NAPOLEON -- Elizabeth Jane Rahmel, 90, of Napoleon, and formerly of Holgate, died Monday morning, September 3, 2012, at the Lutheran Home in Napoleon.
Her Legacy... She was born March 24, 1922, to Edward and Sophia (Fricke) Franzdorf in Defiance. In 1940, she graduated from Defiance High School. On November 1, 1942, she married Paul Herman Rahmel in Defiance. He preceded her in death in December 1996. Betty was a homemaker and a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Holgate.
Her Family... She is survived by her sons, Jeff (Karen) Rahmel, Napoleon, and Steve (Karen) Rahmel, Grand Rapids, Ohio; daughters, Rebecca (Charles) Ellis, St. Joe, Ind., and Rachel (Chris) Hanes, Olympia, Wash.; 13 grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death a grandson, Stevie; and by all her siblings, Ruth, Esther, Robert, Donelda, Virginia, Fredrich and Mildred.
Her Farewell Services... Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, Holgate, on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and again one hour before the church service. The celebration of Betty's life will be on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Holgate, with Reverend Lindsay Shaner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
