Jahanna Lee Gessner, 40, of Defiance, passed away Monday, August 13, 2012, at the Cancer Treatment Center of Midwest America, Zion, Ill.

She was born July 4, 1972, to Vicki Lynn Gessner in Columbus, Ohio. Jahanna was a member of St. John United Church of Christ. She was a 1990 graduate of Tinora High School. She enjoyed Ohio State football, tailgating, was an avid reader, and a devoted mother. Jahanna was a foreman in the quality assurance department at Conagra. She was also a server at many restaurants including Shakers, Nancy's, Charlie's Down Under and Coyote's.

Jahanna is survived by her daughter, Ashton Gessner; grandparents Robert and Marie (Dorothy) Gessner of Defiance, Ohio; aunt, Nancy (Steven) Young of Lakeview, Ohio; uncle, Richard Gessner (Tracy) of Phoenix, Ariz.; aunt, Kathy Hammon (Rick Allomong), and uncle, Phillip Gessner, both of Defiance, Ohio; cousin, Becky Singer of Sherwood, Ohio; and several loving cousins, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother and a brother, Christopher Singer in infancy.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 17, 2012, from 2-8 p.m. at Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 18, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Jencks and Sam Schroeder officiating. Burial will take place in Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance, Ohio.
