Thomas L. Yant, 57, of Defiance, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2012, at CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center.

Tom was born in Defiance, Ohio, on November 23, 1954. He was the son of the late LaVern and Alice (Robinson) Yant, who survives him of Defiance. He worked as a brake press operator at Defiance Metal Products and had previously worked at Johns Manville for over 20 years. Tom was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and golfing. He was the proud owner of a 1970 Chevelle 454 and enjoyed old cars. He really enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his mother, Alice Yant of Defiance; daughter, Teresa (Jeremy) Edmonds of Defiance; sons, Thomas Yant of Defiance and Justin Yant of Defiance; sisters, Dorothy (Mehdi) Kajani of Philadelphia, Pa., Peggy (Robert) Thatcher of Evans, Georgia, and Pam Siebenick of Defiance; brother, Robert (Roxann) Yant of Hamilton, Ind.; and sister-in-law, Chris Yant of Oakwood.

He is also survived by four grandchildren, Austin Yant, Lauren Figley, Brynley Edmonds and Tessa Edmonds.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Richard Yant.

Services at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home will be at 11 a.m. Monday, February 13, with Rev. Max Begley officiating. Visitation is Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
