Richard L. Schindler, 63, of Defiance, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center.

Born in Defiance, on August 14, 1948, he was the son of the late John and Rosie (Dubaugh) Schindler. On February 26, 1972, he married Sandra Ferree, who survives. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church and the Defiance Eagles. Richard worked as an automatic press operator at Defiance Stamping Company for 43 years.

Besides his loving wife, Sandy, of 39 years, surviving are a sister, Judy (John) McGill of Bryan; brothers, Howard Schindler of Tacoma, Washington, Robert Schindler of Lake Seneca, Ohio; and his loving Jack Russell terrier, Frasier.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ron Schindler; and a sister, Evelyn Lewis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Catholic Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, with Father Todd Dominique officiating. Friends are invited to call Friday from 2-8 p.m. at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, Defiance, where there will be a 7:30 p.m. vigil service Friday. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center or the Fort Defiance Humane Society. Condolences may be shared at www.defiancefuneralhome.com.
