PAULDING -- Rita M. Kaufman, 86, died Sunday, January 1, 2012, at CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center, Defiance.
She was born October 4, 1925, in Putnam County, Ohio, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Meyer) Neise. On August 3, 1946, she married Daniel J. Kaufman, who preceded her in death on March 17, 1976. She was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Parish, Paulding, and the VFW Post 587 Ladies Auxiliary. She was formerly employed by Cooper's Grain and Feed of Paulding, retiring in 1991, and was the former owner/operator of Kaufman's Bar and Grill from 1959-1976.
She is survived by five daughters, Linda (David) Begley of Payne, Konnie Gerber, Jane (Steve) Sprow and Jackie (Tom) Boyd, all of Paulding, and Sue (Dave) Vogel, Lake Cormorant, Mississippi; a son, Daniel (Sherry) Kaufman, Paulding; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and a sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 5, at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish, Paulding. Burial will be in Cooper-Haines Cemetery, Paulding. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.
