Putnam teen treated in accidental shooting

LEIPSIC -- An Ottawa teenager was accidently shot in the legs Monday evening while riding in a vehicle in Putnam County.

Tristan Parker, 18, Ottawa, was treated and released at St. Rita's Putnam County Ambulatory Center, Ottawa.

According to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, a 911 call was received at 6:52 p.m. of a male that was reportedly shot in both legs. Deputies report that Parker was traveling in the back seat of a pick-up truck on County Road 5 near Leipsic when Josh Buckland, 18, Ottawa, was showing Parker his new Glock handgun.

The loaded gun allegedly discharged, and a bullet struck Parker in the right thigh, exited and went through the left calf.

The incident remains under investigation.
