Montpelier police searching for armed robber


MONTPELIER -- Officers with the Montpelier Police Department are seeking information on an alleged armed robbery that occurred Thursday evening.

According to Montpelier Police Chief Jeff Lehman, officers were called to The Movie House, 204 W. Main St., at approximately 7:30 p.m. for a report of an armed robbery. The suspect reportedly entered the store, brandished a handgun and demanded money before fleeing the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect is described as being a male in his late teens to early 20s, a thin build, less than 5-feet 6-inches tall with dark hair. He was reported to be wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and tight gray-blue jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Montpelier Police Department at 419-485-3121 or Williams County Area Crime Stoppers at 419-485-9302. A $500 cash reward is being offered for information leading to the suspect's identification and arrest.
