Looking for a place with a little hip-hop? More into ballet, lyrical or pointe dance?

A new dance studio has opened above Cabin Fever Coffee in downtown Defiance. Brittany's Dance Academy offers classes for individuals age 21⁄2 and older.

Brittany Curl, owner/instructor, has another dance studio in Bryan that has been in operation for six year and made the decision to expand to Defiance. Classes will be held in the evenings and there are up to 15 kids per class.

"We've got lots of talent," Curl said. "Thus far we've been pleased with having lots of talented dancers."

Curl added that she has a friendly and young staff that is looking forward to working with dancers in he area.

She said the "core" of her business is the Lord.

"We're Christian based," she said.

Classes in Defiance are being held on Mondays now, but Curl said that may change later.

Classes in Bryan are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The fees are $30 a month for one class. Additional classes are $25 each a month.

While classes have already started, individuals can still enroll until the end of November. Each dance season is from September to May.

To enroll, call 419-799-1325.

Curl has been studying dance since age 4. She went to Columbia College in Chicago and danced there. Her goal has always been to own her own dance studio.
