The Lucas County Republican Party plans to challenge Ohio's elections chief in court in a dispute over nominees for the county's troubled elections board.
GOP Secretary of State Jon Husted removed several members from the board and said it was plagued by dysfunction. He then declined to appoint two replacements nominated by local Republicans because he said they'd contributed to the board's problems.
The Blade in Toledo reports the local party's executive committee voted Wednesday in favor of asking the Ohio Supreme Court to force Husted to accept the nominees.
A spokesman told the newspaper Husted wasn't available to comment Wednesday on the panel's decision.
Democrats have recommended someone to fill the remaining seat on the panel. Husted hasn't said whether he'll appoint that nominee.
