DAYTON, Ohio (AP) -- Police in Dayton say an officer fatally shot a fugitive who pointed a gun at officers while running away from them.
Dayton Police Chief Richard Biehl said the man was shot at about 6 p.m. Monday when he bailed out of a car and ran into a wooded area, then turned and pointed a gun at pursuing officers.
The Dayton Daily News (http://bit.ly/R0dewU ) reports the 26-year-old man was being sought by the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team. Two Dayton officers were chasing him when he crashed his car and then ran into the wooded area.
One of the officers fired multiple shots at the man. Biehl said an investigation will determine if the shooting was justified.
