COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- The new year brings a new record for the mayor of Ohio's capital.
Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman becomes the city's longest-serving mayor when he starts his 15th year on the job on New Year's Day.
Coleman's office says the previous record was 14 years by M.E. Sensenbrenner, who served from 1954 to 1959 and from 1964 to 1971.
Coleman began the job in 2000, and his office says he is the first Democrat to be mayor since Sensenbrenner.
