Ohio nurse plea change set in murder-for-hire case

CLEVELAND (AP) -- A former Cleveland Clinic nurse charged in an alleged murder-for-hire plot is set to appear in court for a change of plea hearing.

The former nurse who's accused of trying to hire an emergency room patient to carry out the plan will go before a federal judge Thursday morning in Cleveland.

A defense attorney for 23-year-old Andrew Martin stopped short of saying his client would plead guilty but says Martin is ready to resolve the case.

Authorities say Martin offered $10,000 to an ER patient to kill a woman in a dispute over ownership of her deceased brother's home. She wasn't harmed.

Investigators say the patient tipped off police that he had been asked by a nurse if he "ever killed anyone."

Martin was arrested last November.
