Ohio's first casino bets on big first-day crowds

THOMAS J. SHEERAN Associated Press Published:

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Streets in downtown Cleveland are being closed ahead of the opening of Ohio's first casino.

A big crowd is expected to be on hand when Horseshoe Casino Cleveland opens its doors to the public at 9:30 p.m. Monday.

Those hoping to be among the first inside can start lining up at 5 p.m.

Authorities already have shut down some of the traffic lanes in the heart of downtown Cleveland opposite the casino.

Those won't reopen to traffic until Tuesday.

The casino expects to draw 5 million people in its first year.
