Retired Indiana teacher leaves $1.9 million for cancer research

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- A former Indianapolis teacher who died in February at age 94 has left $1.9 million in her will to the Hoosier Oncology Group.

The Indianapolis Star reported that ( the donation from Margaret M. Weeks was announced Thursday.

Hoosier Oncology Group spokesman Randy Dillinger said the organization doesn't know much about Weeks. Board of director chairman Chris Fausel says the gift was totally unexpected. It is the second largest gift in the Indianapolis-based company's history.

The donation was made from a trust established by Weeks in 2001 through Fifth Third Bank in Evansville, where she was living until she died on Feb. 14.
