NORTH CANTON (AP) -- A group of Ohio college students studying in Rome offered a long-shot dinner invitation to Pope Francis.
The students from Walsh University left for Rome Oct. 25.
They were due back in North Canton by this weekend without word on a papal dinner guest.
Program director Michael Cinson says the students understand the pope is extremely busy.
The students handed Francis a handmade pink, heart-shaped card during his general audience at St. Peter's Square last week.
According to the Akron Beacon Journal the card was signed on the front by 14 students and three faculty members participating in a Rome study program.
The card included an invitation to dinner at their residence in Castel Gandolfo, Italy, also the home of the pope's summer residence.
