Renowned scientist Sarah Kurtz to speak

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. -- Manchester University will have award-winning solar physicist Sarah Kurtz deliver its 2013 commencement address today.

Kurtz is a 1979 Manchester alumni and is internationally recognized for her ground-breaking research in super-efficient solar cells for powering homes, businesses, satellites and the Mars rovers.

She has a Ph.D. from Harvard University and is a principal scientist and reliability group manager for the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colo. She is a 1976 graduate of Defiance High School.
