MOBILE, Ala. -- Florida State's E.J. Manuel passed for a touchdown and rushed for another on the South's first two drives in a 21-16 victory over the North in the Senior Bowl on Saturday.
Manuel and running backs Stepfan Taylor and Mike James combined to put the game for senior NFL prospects away on the South's final drive. Stanford's Taylor carried five times for 32 yards and caught a 6-yard pass from Manuel.
Manuel converted a fourth-and-1 play on a sneak to set up a 5-yard touchdown run for Miami's James with 2:41 left.
Manuel was named the game's Most Outstanding Player. Brigham Young defensive end Ezekiel Ansah received the honors for the South team while Purdue defensive lineman Kawann Short was the North's top player.
Manuel completed 7 of 10 passes for 76 yards with a 20-yard touchdown pass to Alabama tight end Michael Williams. He also scored on a 2-yard run.
Miami, Ohio quarterback Zac Dysert was 10 of 16 for 93 yards for the North and was intercepted once and sacked twice. North Carolina State's Mike Glennon completed half his 16 attempts for 82 yards, and Syracuse's Ryan Nassib was 4 of 10 for 44 yards and threw an interception.
Former Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson continued his conversion to receiver. He lost 3 yards on a reverse but turned a screen pass from Nassib into a 14-yard gain late in the third quarter and added a 7-yard catch in the fourth.

Musial remembered: Stan Musial was remembered as a Hall of Famer on and off the field during a 2-hour funeral Mass.
Broadcaster Bob Costas, his voice cracking at times, pointed out during Saturday's lengthy tribute that in 92 years of life, Musial never let anyone down.
Among those in attendance were baseball Commissioner Bud Selig, former St. Louis standout Albert Pujols and Hall of Famers Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, Bruce Sutter and Red Schoendienst.
Taft joins presidential race: The Washington Nationals' newest racing president may have to drop a few pounds to be competitive.
The team said Saturday that William Howard Taft will join George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt this season for the fourth-inning race by 12-foot mascots at Nationals Park.
Taft was the portliest president at more than 300 pounds. He became the first president to throw out a ceremonial first pitch, at Washington's Griffith Stadium on April 14, 1910.
Pickoff move a balk: One of the oldest trick plays in baseball is now a balk.
Under a rule change imposed by Major League Baseball, pitchers will no longer be allowed to fake a pickoff to third base and throw to first as a way to dupe a runner on first base into breaking for second. Next season, that move would be a balk. Pitchers can still step off the rubber and fake to third.
Rockies lock up Chacin: A person familiar with the negotiations says pitcher Jhoulys Chacin and the Colorado Rockies have agreed to a $6.5 million, two-year contract.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity Saturday because agreement is subject to a physical.

Fog delays 3rd round: Tiger Woods is going to have to wait to pursue a seventh win at Torrey Pines.
Three players completed one hole Saturday before fog wiped out virtually the entire day at the Farmers insurance Opens. Players are to resume the round Sunday morning and play as long as daylight allows, and then finish Monday.
Woods, who had a two-shot lead over Billy Horschel, never came to the golf course.
Wood eagles win Qatar: Chris Wood eagled the 18th hole to win the Qatar Masters for his first European Tour title, overtaking Sergio Garcia and George Coetzee.
The 142nd-ranked Englishman hit a 6-iron from 200 yards to 12 feet to set up the winning putt. He closed with a 3-under 69 to finish at 18-under 270. Garcia and Coetzee tied for second, a stroke back. Garcia shot a 66, and Coetzee had a 65.

Cavs top Raptors: Kyrie Irving made a 3-pointer with 0.7 seconds left to give the Cleveland Cavaliers a 99-98 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Saturday night.
Irving finished with 32 points and Marreese Speights had 17 for the Cavs. Tristan Thompson scored 14 and Wayne Ellington had 12.
Hawks drop Jackets: Jonathan Toews scored the game-winner early in the third period and Corey Crawford had 24 saves to help Chicago match the best start in franchise history with a 3-2 victory Saturday night over the Columbus Blue Jackets, running the Blackhawks' record to 5-0-0.
Davis and White match record: Add another title to Meryl Davis and Charlie White's impressive collection.
Davis and White won their fifth straight ice dance crown at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships on Saturday, matching a record held by four other couples. As the audience stood and cheered, Davis knelt close to the ice for several seconds, her head bowed.
Phelps' horse wins: Cerro, a 3-year-old colt partly owned by 18-time Olympic champion swimmer Michael Phelps, won the $54,500 third race at Gulfstream Park on Saturday.
Phelps and his former coach, Bob Bowman, share an ownership interest in the Ireland-bred colt, which runs in the colors of Team Valor International.
U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame: Forward Taylor Twellman and defender Tony Sanneh are among five first-time eligible players on the ballot for the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame.
Twellman, now a broadcaster for ESPN, scored 101 league goals for Major League Soccer's New England Revolution from 2002-09 and retired after a series of concussions. Sanneh made 43 appearances for the U.S. national team, and his cross led to Brian McBride's goal in the 3-2 upset of Portugal at the 2002 World Cup.
