Owners plan to reopen water park

MASON (AP) -- New owners of The Beach water park in southwest Ohio plan to reopen the attraction this summer and spend $5 million on renovations.

The Dayton Daily News (http://bit.ly/13NjHMh) reports that a Florida company that now owns the water park plans to add a new kids interactive play area with sprays and slides.

The water park near Kings Island amusement park was closed for the 2012 season after managers decided they couldn't justify further investment.

There are plans to revamp some of the older rides and add shade structures and cabanas. Restaurants and bathrooms will be remodeled.

The park in Mason near Cincinnati expects to hire 400 seasonal workers.

The new owners say they will honor season passes that weren't used last year.
