Toby Keith's Cincinnati bar sued for back rent

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Developers are suing country singer Toby Keith's namesake restaurant at Cincinnati's riverfront.

The Cincinnati Enquirer (http://cin.ci/Wm8FdY ) reports that the restaurant, which goes by the name Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill, is three months behind on rent at The Banks, a development on the Ohio River.

Developers are suing the sports bar for $121,000 in back rent, alleging breach of contract.

A woman identifying herself as a manager at the restaurant declined to comment Wednesday. But a post on the restaurant's Facebook page says it's withholding rent because developers violated the lease by allowing another country music-themed restaurant at The Banks.

Elaine Schock, a spokeswoman for Keith, said Keith does not own the restaurant. She characterized the disagreement as a contract dispute between a landlord and a tenant.
