TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -- A 66-year-old man is being held on a $1 million bond after police in Toledo found a woman's naked, mutilated body in her apartment.

James Millard Day Sr. of Toledo was arraigned Monday on a murder charge. He does not yet have an attorney.

The Blade newspaper reports that police went to a Toledo apartment building Sunday morning after a caller told authorities that a woman was found with her chest "open." Authorities arrived to find 49-year-old Joan Annette Watson dead inside her apartment.

Police say in court documents that Day had been in the victim's apartment drinking and using drugs.

A Lucas County coroner's investigator told the newspaper that the homicide was one of the most graphic ones he's seen in his 20 years of work.
