SANDUSKY, Ohio (AP) -- Authorities say a northern Ohio motorcyclist who crashed into a deer last week has died.

The Sandusky Register (http://bit.ly/Paaz12 ) reports that 62-year-old Charles Reed Jr. was riding his 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle Friday night when he hit a deer that sprang from a ditch near Sandusky. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Reed -- who wasn't wearing a helment -- was thrown off the bike.

The patrol said he died Tuesday at a Toledo hospital.

Ohio wildlife officials said deer-vehicle crashes are much more likely between October and January when the animals are breeding.
