Ohio bishop wants to fix relationship with priests

CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Roman Catholic bishop in Cleveland says he wants to fix a growing disconnect with northeast Ohio priests, and he's asking them to meet with him to discuss it.

The Plain Dealer (http://bit.ly/Lu54FO ) reports Bishop Richard Lennon wrote to priests in the diocese and acknowledged his relationships with some of them have deteriorated. He has asked them to attend one in a series of meetings he scheduled around the region, including one Thursday in Wooster.

Lennon's letter didn't explain what caused the rift. One factor may be the recent dispute over the closings of a dozen churches whose parishioners protested. Lennon called for unity within the diocese as he announced in April that those churches would reopen after they were surprisingly spared by the Vatican in a rare move.
