Coroner: Ohio woman buried in Pa. grave was beaten

COCHRANTON, Pa. (AP) -- A coroner says the body of an Ohio woman found buried in a shallow grave by two Pennsylvania women charged in her murder was beaten with multiple objects, though he's yet to pinpoint the cause of her death.

Crawford County Coroner Scott Shell says more investigation is needed before he rules, though he has classified the death of 20-year-old Brandy Stevens as a homicide.

Pennsylvania State Police say Stevens was killed May 17 after leaving her home in Beaver Township, Ohio, to visit 18-year-old Jade Olmstead, one of two women jailed on charges they killed Stevens. Police also charged 20-year-old Ashley Barber, and says the Cochranton women burned their clothes and some of Stevens' personal effects before digging the shallow grave discovered late Wednesday.

Olmstead's attorney hasn't returned a call and court records don't list an attorney for Barber.
