Ohio man's properties to be inspected after fire

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Officials are inspecting the rental properties of a central Ohio landlord after a Christmas Eve fire at one of his homes killed three people.

The Columbus Dispatch (http://bit.ly/LCAlJo ) reports the inspections will help determine if properties owned by Sam Vazirani meet code standards.

A December fire at a Columbus house he owned killed a child and two adults. Vazirani had rented out the property despite orders that it be vacated because of safety hazards.

He pleaded no contest in April to 20 misdemeanor code violations and completed a 30-day jail sentence.

A judge ordered Vazirani to correct code violations on his properties or risk violating his five-year probation and going to jail. Vazirani is required to immediately fix any hazards.
