3 handguns missing after break-in at Ohio gun shop

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (AP) -- Police in Springfield say a late-night thief apparently shattered a glass panel at a gun shop and slipped through a tight space between metal security bars to steal three handguns.

Officers responded to a report of an alarm at the store late Sunday night and found the shattered glass and a large rock inside the shop. A police report indicates surveillance video showed a young male in a sweatshirt and black shorts entering between the bars and breaking a glass case with a wrench to remove several handguns.

The shop reported that three guns were missing.

WHIO-TV in Dayton reported Monday that police believe a second person acting as a lookout may have waited outside the building during the break-in.
