Concert raises $11,000 for victims of Ohio storms

OWENSVILLE, Ohio (AP) -- Organizers say an all-day concert accompanied by other charitable efforts raised nearly $11,000 to benefit southwest Ohio residents affected by a deadly series of tornadoes and harsh storms early this month.

WKRC-TV in Cincinnati (http://bit.ly/GNtWce ) reports the music at the Clermont County Fairgrounds began late Saturday morning and lasted until nearly midnight. The money raised will be given to a ministry organization dispersing funds to those in need.

Lead singer Ron Fletcher of a band called Acoustic Edge said he put the event together because he knows several people who needed help after the storms, which were linked to four deaths in Ohio. Fletcher said he has several friends whose homes were damaged, and he has two relatives who live in the especially hard-hit Ohio River village of Moscow.
