Ohio gov lobbies Obama on drilling at hoops game

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) -- Ohio's governor mixed basketball with politics during President Barack Obama's trip to Dayton for an NCAA tournament basketball game.

Gov. John Kasich says he talked with the president Tuesday about shale gas drilling in Ohio and assured him that it can be done safely and create jobs. Kasich says the president's main concern was how the drilling will impact the environment.

Kasich says the state is looking at making sure the drilling doesn't pollute groundwater.

The Republican governor wouldn't talk about whether he thinks Democrat Obama will win Ohio in the November presidential election.

He told reporters he was just glad to be included in the president's visit to the game.
