Police injure suspect in fatal SW Ohio shooting

CINCINNATI, Ohio (AP) -- Authorities responding to a southwest Ohio apartment complex say they shot and injured an armed man suspected of fatally shooting an older man who later died.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office and local police say shots were reported early Sunday morning at the complex in Green Township, about 10 miles outside of downtown Cincinnati. They say officers found a door damaged by bullets and followed the sounds of gunfire to find a suspect pointing a handgun at them.

The officers shot the man three times. He was later taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Authorities say 45-year-old suspect David Franks of Cincinnati faces several charges, including aggravated murder. A 76-year-old apartment resident who was shot died at the scene.

It wasn't immediately clear whether Franks had an attorney.
