LONDON (AP) -- The world lightweight unification bout between Ricky Burns and Miguel Vazquez has been postponed by a month because the Mexican fighter has a viral infection.
Burns, the British fighter who holds the WBO title, and IBF champion Vazquez had been scheduled to meet on March 16 at the Wembley Arena in London.
Promoters said Monday the fight has been rescheduled to April 20 at the same venue.
Promoter Frank Warren says "it's very unfortunate that Vazquez has had to withdraw so close to the fight, but it is on medical grounds, which is beyond my control, due to his viral infection, and we have his doctor's certificate confirming this."
On the same card, Nathan Cleverly will put his WBO light-heavyweight title on the line against Robin Krasniqi of Kosovo.
