SINSHEIM, Germany (AP) -- Hoffenheim has signed Poland midfielder Eugen Polanski from Bundesliga rival Mainz.
Hoffenheim says on its website that the 26-year-old Polanski will sign a deal until 2015.
Polanski previously played for Borussia Moenchengladbach, then Spanish side Getafe, before returning to the Bundesliga by joining Mainz in 2009. He has played 87 Bundesliga games for Mainz.
Hoffenheim sporting director Andreas Mueller says "Polanski is bringing a lot of Bundesliga experience with him and is tactically astute. With him we'll gain another bit of stability in the fight against relegation."
Hoffenheim currently occupies the relegation playoff place after a disappointing opening half to the season.
