FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) -- Schalke edged Hannover 5-4 after a wild second half that saw eight goals Friday, giving new coach Jens Keller a winning start in the Bundesliga.

The season looked set resumed on a boring note after the winter break, until Schalke's Jefferson Farfan scored with one minute remaining in the first half.

But the second half produced a festival of goals, with Schalke taking a 2-0 lead, Hannover pulling level and Schalke taking 4-2 and 5-3 leads before Mame Diouf completed the scoring with a spectacular overhead kick befitting the fireworks under the closed roof of Schalke's arena.
