PALERMO, Sicily (AP) -- Palermo striker Abel Hernandez will be out for at least four months after tearing his cruciate knee ligaments.
Hernandez injured his right knee in training while on international duty this week with Uruguay, and returned to Italy.
Palermo revealed the extent of his injury on Friday and says Hernandez will undergo surgery on Saturday.
Hernandez has played in all seven of Palermo's matches this season but has yet to score.
Palermo has five points from seven matches in the Serie A. Only Siena -- which was deducted six points in the match-fixing scandal -- has fewer points.
