NEW YORK (AP) -- Comments on the Cleveland Browns by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):
CLEVELAND BROWNS (23)
Chris Berman (ESPN, 23) -- Now their star rookies are getting hurt.
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 22) -- Doubt if Nick Saban is coming, but Pat Shurmur could be going.
Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 25)
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 20) -- Four wins last year and four so far this season, don't believe it'll be enough to save Pat Shurmur and his staff.
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 26) -- Same thing, different year: Another double-digit losing season in Cleveland, to be followed by another coaching change.
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 25) -- Trent Richardson needs 50 more yards to accomplish a feat the great Jim Brown could not for the Browns -- rush for 1,000 yards as a rookie. Of course, Brown only played a 12-game season back then.
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 23) -- Those Saban-to-Cleveland rumors have Browns' fans believing there really is a St. Nick.
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 24) -- Like Miami, they need a few more weapons to keep defenses off balance.
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 24) -- By my count the Browns have 82 starts by rookies and they won five games and played hard every week. That probably isn't enough for the front office, but two years from now we may find out keeping Shurmur was the right thing to do.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 27)
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 24) -- Could head coach Pat Shurmur have led Cleveland to the playoffs in 2013? It's looking like we'll never know.
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 23) -- Brandon Weeden is not finishing the season well. He has thrown three touchdowns and five interceptions over his last five games, and now he has a sprained right shoulder.
