Zaragoza's last-minute penalty beats Atletico 1-0

MADRID (AP) -- Zaragoza secured a last-minute penalty to beat Atletico Madrid 1-0 and maintain its prospects of avoiding relegation from the Spanish league as it provisionally moved off the bottom of the table.

Atletico defender Diego Godin was harshly booked for making contact with Helder Postiga inside the area, with a dubious penalty subsequently awarded to the hosts. Antonio "Apono" Galdeano stepped up to score the spot kick on the game's final play to hand Zaragoza a second straight victory that moved it above Sporting Gijon and Racing Santander to within three points of safety.

Sporting plays at Athletic Bilbao and Racing is at Real Betis later Sunday.

Atletico remains one point off a Europa League qualifying spot.
