Lady Vols look to clear next hurdle, DePaul

ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) -- Pat Summitt and Tennessee cleared the first hurdle on a path they hope leads them back to the Final Four. The next obstacle is DePaul in the second round of the NCAA tournament Monday.

The Lady Volunteers haven't been to the Final Four in four years, and in Tennessee time, that might as well be four decades.

Forward Glory Johnson understands the expectations but says the Lady Vols "have to do the small things" before they can "even think about getting there." The next step is knocking off the Blue Demons.

Seeded second in the Des Moines regional, Tennessee pulled away in the second half Saturday for a lopsided win over Tennessee-Martin in a physical opener. Seventh-seeded DePaul then squeezed out a 59-55 victory over Brigham Young, setting up this matchup.
