ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) -- Wisconsin senior Rob Wilson wasn't on anybody's radar a month ago. He had trouble getting off the bench, much less scoring baskets.
Now, Vanderbilt star Jeffery Taylor calls the late-blooming Wilson the X-factor in the Commodores' third-round game against the Badgers in the NCAA tournament's East Regional Saturday night.
Wilson's career scoring average after the regular season was 2.4, but he inexplicably went off for 30 points in a win over Indiana in the Big Ten tournament and chipped in 10 points in Wisconsin's drubbing of Montana in its NCAA tournament opener.
He's averaging 11.1 points and 24 minutes over his last seven games after averaging 2.3 points and 9.5 minutes over the Badgers' first 27. He plays stout defense, can slash to the basket and step back and drain 3s.
