ISTANBUL (AP) -- Justin Gatlin of the United States won the 60-meter dash at the indoor World Championships.

Gatlin struck his first gold since serving a four-year doping suspension by chasing down Nesta Carter to win the 60 in 6.46 seconds. That was 0.08 seconds better than the Jamaican. Defending champion Dwain Chambers of Britain took bronze.

Earlier in the day, Aston Eaton of the U.S. set the world record in the heptathlon, eclipsing his total from last year by 77 points.
