Fletcher of US wins shortened Nordic combined

OSLO, Norway (AP) -- American Bryan Fletcher won a Nordic combined World Cup event shortened by melting snow on Saturday.

The 25-year-old Fletcher was third in the ski jump and 11th in the cross-country race. He finished with a total time of 28 minutes, 48.7 seconds.

Mikko Kokslien of Norway came second -- 2.3 seconds behind -- after recovering from 17th in the ski jump to win the cross-country.

Japan's Taihei Kato jumped the farthest and finished third overall.

Warm weather at Holmenkollen led to uneven conditions, forcing organizers to limit the jump to one round instead of two and reducing the cross-country portion to 10 kilometers instead of 15.
