ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The St. Louis Rams say defensive coordinator Gregg Williams continues to cooperate with the NFL in its investigation into the bounty system used by the New Orleans Saints.
The Rams say Williams "has shown contrition for his actions," and declined further comment Thursday.
Williams is expected to receive a severe penalty from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell after admitting he ran a bounty pool of up to $50,000 over the past three seasons when he was the Saints' defensive coordinator. Players earned thousand-dollar payoffs for knocking targeted opponents out of games.
He was hired by the Rams in the offseason. He met with NFL security officials on Monday as part of the league's ongoing investigation.
