RENO, Nev. (AP) -- The U.S. Women's Open Championship finals in Reno this summer are being moved outdoors in a bid to boost interest.

The head of the Bowling Proprietors Association of America says the title will be determined June 27 on temporary lanes beneath the arch that proclaims Reno the "Biggest Little City in the World."

Steve Johnson told The Associated Press that Reno is the bowling capital of the world and the arch is one of the most recognizable icons in America. He says moving the June 27 championship outside should help build on last year's excitement when a record crowd watched inside Cowboys Stadium in Texas.

ESPN2 plans to air the 2012 finals July 3.
