Johaug, Cologna win WCup skiathlon pursuit races


LAHTI, Finland (AP) -- Therese Johaug led a Norwegian sweep in the skiathlon pursuit race at a cross-country World Cup event in Lahti on Saturday, pulling away early from the main pack and maintaining the gap until the end.

Johaug finished the 15-kilometer race, which features a classical and a freestyle portion, in 36 minutes, 52.6 seconds.

Fellow countrywomen Marit Bjoergen and Heidi Weng were second and third, respectively. Bjoergen finished 10.2 seconds back in second place to overtake Poland's Justyna Kowalczyk for the lead in the overall World Cup standings. Weng earned her first individual podium finish by coming in 1.1 seconds behind Bjoergen.

Kowalczyk was eighth.

In the men's race, Dario Cologna of Switzerland extended his overall World Cup by winning the 30-kilometer race in 1 hour, 7 minutes, 30.5 seconds.

Martin Johnsrud Sundby of Norway was 3.7 seconds back, while Alex Harvey of Canada was third.
