TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- JaMychal Green scored six of his 15 points in the final 1:23 to help Alabama survive for a 55-49 victory over Auburn on Wednesday night, its fourth straight win.
The Crimson Tide (20-9, 9-6 Southeastern Conference) hit 6 of 8 free throws down the stretch to claim its fifth consecutive victory in the in-state rivalry.
The Tigers (14-15, 4-11) kept it tight by holding Alabama to 30.4 percent shooting (14 of 30). The Tide was far more efficient at the free-throw line, making 24 of 32 (75 percent) to avoid a loss that would have looked bad on the NCAA tournament resume.
Green also collected 10 rebounds and made four straight foul shots at the end to ensure there wasn't any late-game drama. Trevor Lacey returned from a sprained ankle to score 10 points.
Kenny Gabriel led Auburn with 10 points and 11 rebounds but was only 4-of-13 shooting.
