Rangers win to put off-field problems behind them

GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) -- Rangers put their off-field problems behind them to beat Inverness 4-1 on Sunday and strengthen the hold on second place in the Scottish Premier league.

Defending the Scottish title still looks a forlorn hope for Ally McCoist's side, however, with Glasgow rival Celtic 20 points clear at the top.

Steven Davis, Sone Aluko and Andy Little scored first-half goals and Lee McCulloch added another after the interval for Rangers, who were docked 10 points last week after going into administration -- a form of bankruptcy protection -- because of escalating debts.

The victory allowed the defending champions to open up a six-point cushion over third-place Motherwell, which lost 1-0 to Celtic on Saturday.
